Most of the reliability issues were gradually fixed but other issues like the final drives and the suspension were never fixed and Panthers thus suffered from worse reliability rates than both the Panzer IV and even the Tiger I. Well for the Tiger I'm not 100% what the issue was with it, but I think weight was it's biggest issue and fuel consumption and just expensive and time consuming to maintain.īut for the Panther it was mostly down to the sheer weight of the tank, although the Panther's main issue was the final drives rather than the transmission itself.
